Air Rescue came out for the Sega Master System, developed by SIMS and published by Sega. It was one of those games that tried to push the hardware a bit, arriving when the 8-bit console was still holding its own against newer competition. You pilot a helicopter on rescue missions, flying over varied terrain to locate and retrieve stranded personnel. Your main goal is to find all the survivors on each stage and bring them to safety, while managing your fuel and avoiding enemy fire. The helicopter can move in all directions, and you use a winch to lower a line, carefully positioning it so the person can grab on. You also have to defend yourself; you can shoot at enemy vehicles and aircraft, but your primary focus is always the rescue. The game moves at a deliberate pace, demanding careful navigation rather than quick reflexes, and the difficulty comes from managing multiple threats at once while your fuel slowly depletes. It feels tense and methodical, where a single mistake can cost you the mission.
