About Agassi Tennis Generation
I picked up Agassi Tennis Generation for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002. It was published by Cryo Interactive, a name you'd see on a few sports titles for the handheld. This was during that era where every GBA library seemed to need a tennis game, and this was one of the attempts to fill that slot, sitting alongside other early 2000s sports offerings.
You control a tennis player from an isometric view, moving them around the court to hit the ball. The main goal is to win matches in a career mode, working your way through various tournaments. A couple of its mechanics stand out: you can charge up your shots for more power, and you need to carefully time your swings to direct the ball. The game moves at a decent clip, but the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially against later opponents who return almost everything. It feels like a straightforward, portable tennis match where a single mistimed button press can cost you the point.
