Okay, so this is one of those late '90s Smurfs games for the Game Boy Color—you know, when every cartoon had to have a pixelated side-scroller. You play as Papa Smurf (obviously) running through mushroom-filled forests, jumping over logs, and tossing magic potions at those pesky Gargamel traps. The colors are actually pretty vibrant for a GBC title, and the music’s got that weirdly catchy MIDI vibe.
It’s not exactly hard—more of a chill, after-school kind of game—but some of the platforming gets weirdly precise in later levels. Also, yes, you will hear the Smurfs’ little “la-la” sound effects every time they talk. No escape from that.
Fun fact: The European version has six languages packed in, which explains why the text boxes feel so cramped.
