Advance Guardian Heroes is that rare GBA sequel that actually lives up to its Saturn predecessor. It's got that same chaotic beat 'em up energy, but somehow squeezes it onto the tiny screen without losing what made the original special. You pick from a roster of weirdos (my personal favorite is the ninja who fights with a giant shuriken the size of his body) and plow through waves of enemies with ridiculous over-the-top combos.

The coolest part? You can juggle enemies mid-air with magic attacks, then slam them into the ground hard enough to bounce them back up for more punishment. The sprite work is surprisingly detailed for a GBA title - you can actually see characters' facial expressions change when they take a big hit. Just don't expect the branching paths from the Saturn version; this one's more straightforward, but makes up for it with tighter controls.

If you've got a soft spot for 90s arcade brawlers with a dash of RPG elements, this cart deserves a spot in your collection.
