You control one of four young guardians, each with their own fighting style, as you hack and slash through waves of enemies. The main goal is to stop the resurrection of an ancient demon, which sends you across various levels like forests and ruins. The combat is built around chaining together melee attacks and special moves; you can also switch between three different planes on the screen to dodge attacks or line up your own. Defeated enemies sometimes drop souls that you collect to power up your character and learn new abilities.
