About Zoop (europe)
Zoop came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995, developed by Hookstone Ltd. It was one of many puzzle games on the platform during that era, a time when the SNES library was filled with diverse genres competing for attention.
You control a small cursor at the center of the screen, which is constantly approached by colored shapes from all four sides. Your main objective is to clear these shapes by matching your cursor's color to theirs before they reach the center and end your game. Two key mechanics define the play: you can shoot shapes of the same color to eliminate them, and you can also change your own cursor's color to prepare for incoming rows. The game starts calmly but the speed ramps up quickly, demanding fast decisions as the playfield becomes more crowded. It feels like a constant, tense race against the encroaching shapes.
