Zool - Ninja of the Nth Dimension is one of those weird, hyperactive platformers from the '90s that feels like it was designed after someone drank way too much soda. You play as this alien ninja—yeah, that’s a thing—zooming through candy-colored levels, slicing up enemies, and collecting… well, honestly, half the time I wasn’t even sure what I was grabbing. The controls are fast but kinda slippery, so you’ll probably faceplant into spikes a few times before getting the hang of it.
The soundtrack is pure early SNES synth, all bouncy and chaotic, which somehow fits the game’s "throw everything at the wall" vibe. Some levels are straightforward platforming, others have these weird gimmicks like riding bubbles or bouncing on giant mushrooms. It’s not the most polished game out there, but there’s something charming about how unapologetically weird it is. If you’re into retro games that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s a trip.
