Zombies, sometimes known as Zombies Ate My Neighbors, was a 1993 release for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System from Konami. It arrived during a period when the SNES library was diversifying, offering experiences that went beyond the typical platformers and RPGs.

You control one of two teenagers, Zeke or Julie, tasked with rescuing your neighbors from a monstrous invasion across dozens of themed levels. Your main objective is to find and save every civilian on the screen before your own lives run out or a neighbor is killed. You explore each area screen by screen, using an arsenal that starts with a simple squirt gun (later loaded with holy water for zombies) and expands to include soda can grenades and other makeshift weapons. The pacing is frantic, as monsters constantly spawn and hunt both you and the helpless neighbors; the difficulty comes from managing these multiple threats across large, maze-like stages. It feels like a chaotic race against a ticking clock where every rescued civilian provides a small, tangible victory.
