Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel is one of those weird '90s platformers that tried way too hard to be Sonic—except you're a squirrel with a propeller hat instead of a hedgehog. Yeah, it's a spin-off from Aero the Acro-Bat (which was already kind of a Sonic knockoff), but somehow it’s even jankier. You’ll be bouncing off springs, collecting acorns, and rescuing your squirrel girlfriend Amy from… whoever the villain is this time. The controls feel a little stiff, and the level design isn’t exactly inspired, but there’s something charming about how aggressively '90s it is. If you’re into obscure platformers with attitude, this might scratch that itch.
Honestly, I only played it because the name made me laugh. It’s not great, but it’s not the worst way to kill an afternoon.
