Yadamon - Wonderland Dreams is one of those weird little SNES gems that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this weirdly charming, almost dreamlike vibe. You play as Yadamon, this tiny fox-like creature with a magic wand, hopping between floating islands and pastel-colored forests that look like they’re straight out of a children’s book.
The first thing you’ll notice is how… floaty everything feels. Your jumps have this slow, bouncy weight to them, and half the time you’re not even sure if you’ll make a platform until you barely grab the edge. The puzzles are simple but satisfying—mostly tapping blocks into place or using your wand to freeze enemies mid-air so you can hop on them. It’s not super hard, but there’s something oddly relaxing about it.
Honestly, the whole thing feels like playing through a lost Studio Ghibli side project. The music’s all tinkly and light, the enemies are more goofy than threatening (one’s literally just a bouncing onion), and even the "dark forces" you’re fighting look like they belong in a nursery rhyme. If you’re into obscure 16-bit platformers with personality, this one’s worth a look.
