About World Soccer
World Soccer came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by Imagineer. It was one of the early sports titles on the platform, arriving before many of the more polished soccer games that would define the genre on the SNES. You got a straightforward soccer simulation without the licensing or the graphical flair of later releases.
You control a team of eleven players, moving them around a top-down field. The main objective is to outscore your opponent by getting the ball into their net. Key mechanics include passing the ball between your players to set up attacks and using a power meter for shooting, which determines the strength and trajectory of your kick. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially against the computer's aggressive defense. Playing it feels like a quick, sometimes scrappy, match from that era of 16-bit sports games.
