About World Masters Golf
World Masters Golf came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by Hect. It was part of that early wave of SNES sports titles, arriving when developers were still figuring out how to translate the feel of a real game into a 16-bit format. You could find it on the shelf alongside other early releases, a straightforward golf simulation without the flash of some later titles.
You control a golfer from an overhead view, working your way through a series of international courses. The main goal is to win tournaments by shooting the lowest score. The game uses a three-click swing meter for power and accuracy, a system that became common but still requires good timing. You also manage wind direction and club selection before each shot, which adds a layer of strategy. The pacing is deliberate, and the courses can be quite challenging, especially when putting on tricky greens. It feels like a thoughtful test of your consistency rather than a quick arcade game.
