World Class Rugby on SNES is one of those early '90s sports games that somehow nails the chaos of rugby without getting too bogged down in realism. You pick your team (France, obviously, since this is the French version), and right away you're thrown into scrums, lineouts, and those brutal tackles that look way more painful in pixel form than they should.
The controls take a minute to get used to—passing feels a little stiff at first, but once you figure out the timing, you can pull off some surprisingly smooth plays. And the AI? Not bad for its time. They actually try to outmaneuver you instead of just charging straight ahead like mindless drones.
Graphics are solid for an SNES sports title—chunky sprites, decent animations, and a crowd that actually reacts (well, as much as 16-bit crowds ever did). If you’re into retro rugby games, this one’s a fun throwback.
