About Wizard Of Oz, The
The Wizard of Oz came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by Manley & Associates. It was one of many licensed games from that period, trying to capture the feel of a popular story on the 16-bit hardware. You don't see it discussed as often as the major platformers or RPGs from that era, but it has its own place.
You control Dorothy, moving screen by screen across a large map of Oz. Your main goal is to find the missing Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, then defeat the Wicked Witch. You use a slingshot to attack enemies and a magic bubble shield for defense. The game involves a lot of exploration, searching for keys to unlock new areas and collecting items to help your friends. The pacing can feel slow, and some sections are surprisingly difficult, requiring careful navigation and resource management. Playing it feels like a slow, methodical trek through a familiar but sometimes frustrating world.
