If you've ever wanted to feel like a hotshot space pilot without leaving your couch, Wing Commander: The Secret Missions on SNES is about as close as it gets. You start off getting briefed on some sketchy intel about Kilrathi movements—standard military stuff—but then suddenly you're scrambling into your fighter, trying not to get blown apart by swarms of cat-faced aliens. The pixel art holds up surprisingly well for a 16-bit dogfighter, especially when you're weaving through asteroid fields with lasers flashing past your cockpit.

The missions start simple—escort this, blow up that—but things escalate fast. One minute you're picking off stragglers, the next you're desperately outnumbered and praying your afterburners hold out. The controls take a second to click (that SNES pad wasn't made for space sims), but once they do, pulling off a tight spiral to shake a tail feels stupidly satisfying. Just don't get too cocky—those Kilrathi fighters love to ambush you the second you think you've cleared the sector.

It's got that classic Wing Commander vibe where every victory makes you feel like a legend, and every failure has you mashing the reset button. If you're into space combat at all, this one's still worth firing up.
