About Wildsnake
WildSnake came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, published by Spectrum HoloByte. It was part of that wave of puzzle games filling the library alongside the more famous action and adventure titles. You would slide blocks and navigate a snake, a straightforward concept for the time that didn't try to reinvent the wheel.
You control a snake made of blocks, guiding it around a grid to eat specific targets. The main goal is to clear each stage by consuming all the required items without the snake crashing into itself or the walls. The snake grows longer with every item you collect, which immediately makes navigation more complex. You also have to contend with obstacles that appear on later stages, forcing you to plan your route several moves ahead. The game starts simply but the difficulty ramps up steadily, demanding quick thinking and spatial awareness. It feels like a constant, engaging battle against the space you are creating for yourself.
