Wicked 18 is one of those weirdly charming SNES golf games that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s part of the True Golf series, but don’t expect a straight-laced sim—this one leans into the absurd with courses full of ridiculous hazards. Think lava pits, moving platforms, and greens shaped like skulls (hence the Japanese title, Devil’s Course).
First time I booted it up, I figured it’d be a basic golf clone, but nope—you’re lining up shots while dodging geysers or trying not to ricochet off a windmill. The physics are janky in that classic 16-bit way, so half the fun is laughing at your ball getting yeeted into oblivion by some random trap. It’s got that "just one more try" energy when you realize the hole could’ve been way easier if you’d aimed left instead of right.
Ports exist for the 3DO and Mega Drive, but the SNES version’s got that crunchy pixel charm. Not a masterpiece, but weird enough to stick in your memory.
