About Whizz (europe)
Whizz came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, a release from Flair Software. It was part of that era on the SNES where developers were experimenting with isometric perspectives, trying to create a sense of depth on a 2D system. You don't hear about it much, but it has its own particular look and feel.
You control a rabbit dressed as a magician, and your goal is to navigate through each isometric level before a strict time limit expires. The core gameplay involves running, jumping across platforms, and collecting all the question mark blocks scattered throughout the stage. A key mechanic is using your magic to transform enemies into harmless collectibles, which you must then gather to unlock the exit. The pacing is fast and the levels are compact, but the isometric viewpoint can make judging jumps tricky, adding a layer of challenge. It feels like a constant, frantic scramble against the clock.
