About Were Back - A Dinosaur Story
We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, published by Hi Tech Expressions. It was one of many licensed platformers from that era, based on the animated film but carving its own path. The setup is simple: Professor Screw Eyes has kidnapped the kids, Louie and Cecilia, and the dinosaurs set off to rescue them.
You control Rex, the main dinosaur, through five side-scrolling levels set in different time periods. Your goal is to navigate each stage, avoiding environmental traps and defeating the various enemies in your way. Signature mechanics include calling on other dinosaurs like Elsa or Woog for temporary help and collecting power-ups to restore or increase your health. The pacing is straightforward, though some jumps and enemy placements can be tricky. It feels like a simple, earnest adventure from the 16-bit library.
