About We're Back - A Dinosaur Story
We're Back: A Dinosaur Story came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, published by Hi Tech Expressions. It was part of that wave of games based on animated films, a common sight on the SNES during that era. The game follows the plot of the movie, where a group of dinosaurs are brought to the present day.
You control a young boy named Louie, navigating through side scrolling levels set in a museum and the city. Your main goal is to find and rescue your dinosaur friends who have been scattered. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping across platforms and avoiding environmental hazards. You collect Brain Grain, a special cereal, to power up your character and progress. Some sections have you switching control to a dinosaur for brief periods, which changes the way you interact with obstacles. The pacing can feel slow, and the controls require some patience to master. Playing it feels like a straightforward, if sometimes clunky, trip through a licensed movie world.
