About Warp Speed (europe)
Warp Speed came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, published by Accolade. It was part of that early wave of SNES games that tried to push the hardware with fast, sprite-scaling effects, a common technical goal for developers at the time.
You pilot a small starfighter through a series of tunnel-like courses. The main objective is simple: survive. You navigate tight corridors that rush toward you, dodging obstacles and shooting down enemy ships that appear ahead. The signature mechanics involve managing your ship's speed with a dedicated throttle and using a limited warp function to instantly jump past difficult sections. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp reflexes. It feels like a constant, high-pressure test of your ability to react and plan a split second ahead.
