About Warlock (japan)
Warlock came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Realtime Associates. It was part of that wave of action-adventure games on the system that tried to capture a certain feel, building on familiar ideas without necessarily reinventing them. You get a world to explore, a clear villain, and a quest that pushes you from one screen to the next.
You control a warrior tasked with stopping the Warlock. Your main goal is to travel across different time periods, from prehistoric lands to medieval castles, to find all the runestones before he can. You move screen by screen, using a sword for close combat and a bow for attacking from a distance. The game involves a lot of dungeon delving, where you fight enemies, solve simple puzzles, and search for keys to progress. The pacing is fairly quick, but the difficulty can spike in certain areas, demanding careful movement and timing. It feels like a straightforward, focused adventure where your progress is measured one cleared screen at a time.
