About Warios Woods
Wario's Woods came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed and published by Nintendo. It was part of that era on the SNES where you saw a lot of puzzle games trying new things, and this one stood out because it starred Wario in a role you wouldn't expect. Instead of his usual treasure hunting, he was the antagonist in a tile matching game.
You control Toad, who runs around at the bottom of a single screen filled with falling monsters and bombs. The goal is to clear each stage by matching colored monsters together, or by using a bomb to destroy a group of the same color. You can pick up and carry creatures, stack them, and even throw them to rearrange the pile. The pace gets frantic quickly as the screen fills up, and the difficulty ramps up in a way that demands quick decisions. It feels like a race against a creeping mess that you are constantly organizing and dismantling.
