Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal is an expansion pack for the real-time strategy game Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness. It was released in 1996 for MS-DOS and developed by Cyberlore Studios, with Blizzard Entertainment serving as publisher. The expansion continues the fantasy war narrative of the original, presenting new single-player campaigns from a top-down perspective.

The game features two distinct campaigns, each consisting of twelve missions, allowing players to command either the Human Alliance or the Orcish Horde. In the Human campaign, players lead Alliance forces through the unstable rift to the orc home world of Draenor, with the objective of permanently sealing the portal from its origin point. Conversely, the Orc campaign follows the Shadow Moon clan under Warchief Ner'zhul, who seeks to gather powerful magical artifacts from Azeroth to open portals to other worlds. Progression is mission-based, with players managing resource collection, base construction, and army recruitment to achieve specific scenario objectives. Several missions introduce hero characters, five for each faction, which function as enhanced versions of standard units with unique audio cues but no new core unit types.

Beyond the Dark Portal adds fifty new maps for both single-player and multiplayer use, along with a unique graphical tile set representing the alien landscapes of Draenor. The expansion's content, including the new heroes and tiles, is not integrated into the official map editor that shipped with the game, though third-party utilities were later created to provide access to these assets. The gameplay maintains the established real-time strategy systems of resource management, technological advancement, and tactical combat between the two rival factions.
