WWF Royal Rumble on SNES is pure 90s wrestling nostalgia—Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and all the big names are here, looking like pixelated versions of their larger-than-life selves. The controls are simple enough to mash buttons and still pull off suplexes, but there’s some strategy if you dig into the timing. The ring feels cramped compared to later wrestling games, but that just means more chaotic pile-ups when you’ve got four wrestlers going at once. The crowd chants are hilariously repetitive, but honestly, it adds to the charm.
First match in, I picked Bret Hart and immediately got tossed out of the ring by Yokozuna—turns out size matters more here than I thought. The Royal Rumble mode is the highlight, though good luck lasting more than a few minutes before someone clotheslines you into oblivion. It’s rough around the edges now, but if you grew up with this era of wrestling, it’s a weirdly satisfying time capsule.
