Villgust: Transcore came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Shinseisha. It was part of that wave of Japanese role playing games that tried to carve out a space on the console, offering a fantasy adventure that felt distinct from the bigger names at the time. You don't hear much about it now, but it had its own look and a particular style of play.

You control a party of heroes exploring a world split into separate screens, moving from one area to the next as you uncover the story. The main goal involves delving into dungeons and gathering the scattered pieces of the Triforce-like Crests to restore balance. Combat is turn based, letting you choose attacks and spells for each character, and you'll spend a lot of time managing your resources between battles. The pacing is deliberate, and some of the dungeon layouts can be tricky to navigate without a map. Playing it feels like slowly piecing together a large, quiet puzzle.
