Ultima VII on SNES is one of those RPGs that feels way ahead of its time—you start off investigating a creepy murder in Britannia, and before long, you're tangled up in some cult nonsense with a weird floating head called the Guardian yelling at you. The world’s packed with little details, like NPCs actually going about their day or being able to pick up almost anything (yes, even that random fork). Combat’s a bit clunky by today’s standards, but the writing and sheer freedom make up for it. Just don’t expect the SNES version to be as deep as the PC original—it’s still a solid port though.
Honestly, half the fun is seeing how much you can break the game by stacking chairs or stealing everything that isn’t nailed down. The Guardian’s still one of the most unsettling villains in RPG history.
