Ultima 7 on SNES drops you back into Britannia as the Avatar, but things have gone weird in the 200 years you’ve been gone. Some creepy cult called The Fellowship is everywhere, people are getting murdered in bizarre rituals, and this smug voice calling itself The Guardian won’t stop taunting you. Classic Ultima stuff, but with way better graphics—no more tiny windowed view, just a full screen world packed with details.
You’ll bump into old allies who join your party, and the combat’s totally different now—real-time instead of turn-based, so fights feel chaotic in the best way. The world’s ridiculously interactive too. Like, you can pick up almost anything, bake bread, milk cows… or just steal everything that isn’t nailed down if you’re feeling petty. NPCs actually have schedules, wandering around towns instead of standing in one spot forever. It’s one of those games where you’ll get distracted for hours just poking at random stuff while the main plot waits impatiently.
Also, the mouse controls work surprisingly well for a console port. Just don’t expect the SNES version to have the full PC experience—some content got trimmed, but it’s still a solid way to play if you don’t mind the compromises.
