Ultima - Kyouryuu Teikoku is one of those weird, cool SNES RPGs that never made it outside Japan. You’ve got your usual swords, spells, and turn-based fights—except half the enemies are dinosaurs. Like, you’ll be fighting bandits one minute, then a T-Rex shows up and suddenly it’s Jurassic Park meets Final Fantasy.
The island’s packed with weird little details—some towns feel almost normal, others are straight-up prehistoric. And yeah, the combat’s classic Ultima, but watching a velociraptor charge your party never gets old. Just don’t expect the usual fantasy tropes—this one’s all about surviving dino territory.
It’s rough around the edges (translation’s iffy if you’re emulating), but there’s nothing else quite like it.
