About Tsukikomori
Tsukikomori came out in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, a time when the 16-bit era was still producing interesting titles. It was published by Natsume, a company known for a certain style of action and simulation games. This one fits right into that late SNES period, a game that arrived without much fanfare but found its own small audience.
You control a young girl named Satsuki, exploring a large, interconnected manor room by room. Your main goal is to uncover the mystery of the house and the strange, withdrawn spirits within it. The gameplay involves careful exploration, using a bow to pacify hostile apparitions from a distance, and collecting special items to unlock new areas. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you map out the manor's layout and solve environmental puzzles. It's a quiet, sometimes lonely experience that feels like piecing together a story the house itself is reluctant to tell.
