About True Lies (japan)
True Lies came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Beam Software. It was part of that wave of movie tie-ins on the system, games that tried to capture the feel of a blockbuster with the hardware of the time. You step into the shoes of Harry Tasker, the secret agent Schwarzenegger played in the film, working to dismantle a terrorist group called Crimson Jihad.
You control Harry through side-scrolling levels, moving screen by screen. Your main goal is to shoot every enemy in an area before you can proceed to the next. You use a standard pistol with limited ammo, but you can pick up more powerful weapons like Uzis or grenade launchers from fallen foes. The game is a straight run-and-gun; you are constantly pushing forward, clearing rooms of terrorists, and occasionally facing a screen-filling boss. It is notoriously difficult, with aggressive enemies and a demand for quick reflexes. Playing it feels like a relentless test of your aim and timing against overwhelming odds.
