True Lies on SNES is basically Arnold Schwarzenegger: The Video Game. You run around as his character from the movie, blasting terrorists in side-scrolling levels that feel like a mix of Contra and a B-movie action flick. The controls are a little stiff—typical for licensed games back then—but there’s something satisfying about mowing down bad guys with a machine gun while Arny grunts one-liners.
Some levels switch to an awkward first-person shooting gallery, which honestly hasn’t aged well, but the main side-scrolling parts are decent if you’re into ‘90s action cheese. Just don’t expect it to hold up like Contra III. It’s pure nostalgia fuel for fans of the movie or anyone who misses that era of over-the-top licensed games.
