About True Golf: Wicked 18
True Golf: Wicked 18 came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by T&E Soft. It was part of that wave of early 90s sports games that tried to capture a realistic feel on the 16-bit hardware, sitting alongside other golf simulations of the era.
You control a golfer on a series of fantastically difficult holes. The main goal is simply to complete each hole in as few strokes as possible. The signature mechanics involve navigating extreme terrain; you are constantly adjusting for massive elevation changes, hitting over deep canyons, and dealing with tricky obstacles. The game uses a three-click swing meter for power and accuracy, demanding precise timing on every shot. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is steep, punishing any miscalculation severely. Playing it feels like a constant, satisfying battle against a course that seems designed to be unfair.
