Traverse - Starlight & Prairie is one of those SNES games that just sticks with you. You start off in this quiet prairie at sunset, fireflies blinking around you, and within minutes you're climbing star-lit cliffs or deciphering these weird glowing symbols in ancient ruins. The puzzles actually make you think—none of that "push the obvious block" stuff—and the combat's got this satisfying weight to it, like your sword swings really mean something.
What I love is how the world feels alive. You’ll meet travelers who actually remember your choices later, and some of the "hidden" areas are so cleverly tucked away that finding them feels like uncovering a secret the devs left just for you. The music? Perfect SNES-era mood—all flutes and soft synth when you’re exploring, then suddenly these intense drums kick in during boss fights.
If you missed this one back in the day, it’s aged way better than most. Just expect to lose an afternoon to it once you start poking around those starlit caves.
