Total Carnage on SNES is basically what happens when you take a twin-stick shooter and cram it into a 16-bit cartridge. You start off with this dinky little gun, and within seconds, the screen's flooded with enemies—tanks, soldiers, weird floating heads—all while explosions go off everywhere. It's absolute chaos, but the good kind.

Power-ups drop randomly, so you're constantly scrambling for that flamethrower or spread shot before some clown in a helicopter steals it. The levels throw curveballs too—one minute you're mowing down troops in a desert, next thing you know, you're dodging lava pits in some nightmare fortress. It's janky in that classic SNES way, but once you get the rhythm, it's weirdly satisfying to clear a screen just before getting overwhelmed.

Fair warning: the difficulty doesn't mess around. You'll burn through lives fast if you try to Rambo through it. Still, there's something about the pixelated explosions and that crunchy sound design that makes it hard to put down. If you miss arcade-style shooters where the only objective is "survive," this one's got your back.
