Total Carnage is one of those SNES games that makes you wonder how it even got past the censors. You play as a pair of soldiers blasting through waves of enemies with a ridiculous amount of firepower—flamethrowers, spread shots, even a screen-clearing nuke. The whole thing feels like a chaotic, over-the-top arcade shooter, which makes sense since it’s from Midway.
Your goal? Take down General Akhboob (yes, that’s his name) in a mess of explosions and pixelated gore. The controls are simple—run, gun, and try not to get swarmed—but the sheer number of enemies keeps it intense. I remember my first playthrough ending embarrassingly fast because I underestimated how aggressive the AI gets.
If you’re into ’90s arcade-style shooters with zero subtlety, this one’s a blast—just don’t expect deep storytelling.
