Top Racer (or Top Gear, depending on where you played it) is one of those SNES racers that just feels fast—even if the graphics are a little chunky by today’s standards. You pick from four cars (I always went with the red one, no idea if it was actually better), then blast through tracks set in different countries, weaving around traffic and barely making some of those hairpin turns.
The tracks get seriously narrow in places, and you’ll swear the AI cars are out to get you. Pit stops are a lifesaver when your engine’s smoking, but good luck timing them right when you’re fighting for first place. The music’s got that classic SNES synth vibe—catchy but repetitive after a while.
It’s not the deepest racer, but there’s something satisfying about shaving seconds off your best time. Just don’t expect Gran Turismo-level realism.
