Ever played a sports game where you wrestle an octopus? Yeah, me neither—until I tried The Super Aquatic Games on SNES. It’s basically the weirdest, wettest Olympics you’ve never heard of, with events like swimming through obstacle courses (watch out for the jellyfish) and, yes, literally grappling with a giant octopus.
The pixel art’s got that classic SNES charm—bright colors, goofy animations—and the controls are simple enough that you’ll be flipping dolphins over your head within minutes. I wasn’t sure about the seal-balancing event at first, but it’s weirdly satisfying once you get the timing down.
It’s not the deepest game out there, but if you’re into retro stuff or just want something silly to play with a friend, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t blame me when you start humming the underwater theme music for days.
