Man, The Pagemaster on SNES is one of those weirdly charming licensed games that actually gets the vibe of the movie right. You play as this kid who gets sucked into a library and turned into a cartoon—next thing you know, you're platforming through these book-themed worlds like horror and fantasy, swinging a candlestick at flying books and dodging Frankenstein’s monster. The pixel art’s got that early ‘90s Disney-esque look, all bright and exaggerated.
It’s not the hardest platformer out there, but some of the later levels get sneaky with their enemy placements. I remember getting stuck in the pirate ship section for ages because those cannonballs come out of nowhere. And the music? Weirdly catchy, especially the adventure theme—it’s been stuck in my head since 1994. If you’re into retro games with a little personality (or just love the movie), this one’s a solid time capsule.
