Ever stumble across one of those obscure Mario ROM hacks that actually feels like a lost SNES game? That's The Mario Legend 1 - World of Mystery Demo for you. It's got that classic Mario World vibe but with weird new power-ups (I swear one turns you into a bouncing fireball) and some genuinely tricky level designs. The first time I played, I got stuck in this forest area with disappearing platforms for like 15 minutes.

It's rough around the edges—some of the sprite work is janky, and the music cuts out weirdly—but there's something charming about how ambitious it is. You can tell whoever made this really loved Super Mario World. Just don't expect Nintendo polish.
