Tetsuwan Atom on SNES is one of those Japan-only gems that never made it overseas, which is a shame because it's a solid little action-platformer starring Astro Boy. You get his classic rocket boots, laser fingers, and that weird arm cannon thing—all the moves you'd expect from the manga.
The first level throws you right into a futuristic city under attack, with these clunky but charming robot enemies that explode into springs and gears when you punch them. The controls take a second to get used to—his jump feels floaty at first, but once you figure out the timing for his dash attacks, it clicks.
It’s not the deepest game, but the sprite work is surprisingly detailed for 1994, especially when Astro charges up his laser. Just don’t expect an English patch—you’ll be mashing through menus in Japanese.
