About Teitoku No Ketsudan (japan) (rev A)
Teitoku No Ketsudan came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed and published by Koei. It was part of that early wave of SNES titles, a time when strategy games were starting to find a more complex home on consoles. This one put you in charge of the entire Imperial Japanese Navy during the Pacific War, which was a pretty ambitious scope for its day.
You control the fleet's movements on a strategic map, making decisions about where to send your task forces and when to engage the enemy. The main objective is to outmaneuver and defeat the Allied naval forces across a series of historical scenarios. Key mechanics involve managing your ship deployments, planning long range naval strikes, and resolving fleet engagements through tactical combat screens. The pacing is deliberate, demanding careful thought rather than quick reflexes, and the difficulty can be steep as you balance multiple fronts. It feels like a serious, absorbing test of your ability to think several steps ahead of a formidable opponent.
