About Tecmo Super Nba Basketball (japan) (rev A)
Tecmo released Tecmo Super NBA Basketball for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. It was a follow up to their earlier NES basketball title, arriving during a period when sports games were rapidly evolving on the 16-bit consoles. This game was part of that push, offering a more detailed take on professional basketball for its time.
You control a five man basketball team, switching between players on the fly to pass, steal, and shoot. The main objective is to outscore the opposing team within the timed quarters. A few mechanics stand out: the turbo button gives your player a quick burst of speed, the game features different shot types including a risky but rewarding three pointer, and you can call specific plays from a menu. The pacing is generally quick, though the computer can be relentless on defense, making careless passes a costly mistake.
