About Tecmo Super Nba Basketball (japan)
Tecmo released Tecmo Super NBA Basketball for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. It was a sequel to their earlier NES basketball title, arriving during a period when sports games were rapidly improving their graphics and gameplay on the 16-bit consoles. This one aimed to carve out its own space among the growing number of basketball simulations.
You control a five man basketball team, switching between players on defense and directing the ball handler on offense. The main objective is to outscore your opponent by making baskets and stopping theirs. A few mechanics stand out: the turbo button gives you a vital burst of speed for driving to the hoop or closing out on a shooter, and a unique power meter builds up for special, high percentage shots. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the computer can be surprisingly aggressive on defense, forcing you to make quick passes. It feels responsive and direct, a solid arcade style take on basketball from that era.
