Tecmo Super Baseball is one of those mid-90s SNES sports games that actually holds up better than you'd expect. Yeah, it's got that classic Tecmo vibe—slightly exaggerated player animations, arcade-style pitching and batting, and those satisfying little "thwack" sounds when you connect with a fastball. The MLBPA license means you get real players (well, as real as 16-bit sprites can look), though don't expect full team names or logos.
First thing you'll notice? The fielding feels surprisingly smooth for a game this old. Outfielders actually chase down fly balls instead of moving like tanks, and diving catches have just the right amount of drama. Batting takes a minute to get used to—timing matters way more than power swings. I still whiff on curveballs half the time, but when you nail one into the gap, it feels great.
Not gonna lie, the AI pitchers love throwing junk at you after a few innings, so expect a lot of sliders in the dirt. Still, it's way more fun than most SNES baseball games that came before it. If you dig old-school sports titles, this one's a solid pick.
