Tecmo Super Baseball is one of those mid-90s sports games that somehow nails the vibe of baseball without getting too bogged down in realism. You’ve got the full MLBPA license, so all the big names are here—just don’t expect perfect stats or anything. The pitching feels surprisingly smooth, and there’s something satisfying about the crack of the bat when you time a hit just right.
It’s not as flashy as some of the later SNES sports titles, but the animations are clean, and the fielding controls don’t fight you like in other games from the era. I remember spending way too long in exhibition matches trying to figure out if power hitters or contact guys worked better—turns out, it depends on how much you trust your timing. The music’s got that classic Tecmo energy, too, all upbeat and slightly cheesy in the best way.
If you’re into retro baseball games, this one’s a solid pick for a lazy afternoon.
