About Tecmo Secret Of The Stars
Tecmo released Secret of the Stars for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. It was their own take on the console's flourishing RPG genre, arriving amidst many other fantasy adventures. The game does not try to reinvent the wheel, but it carves out its own space.
You control Ray, a young man tasked with saving the world by ascending as a holy Aquatallion. Your journey involves screen by screen exploration of an overworld, navigating towns and dungeons, and engaging in turn based combat with swords and magic. A signature mechanic lets you recruit additional party members, each destined to become an Aquatallion themselves, and you can switch control between them to solve puzzles or access new areas. The pacing is deliberate, with a moderate difficulty that expects you to engage with its systems. Playing it feels like methodically uncovering a large, interconnected map.
