Man, TNN Bass Tournament of Champions on SNES is one of those weirdly satisfying fishing games that shouldn’t be as fun as it is. You pick your gear—lures, rods, the whole deal—and then just… sit there in pixelated lakes, waiting for that telltale tug on the line. The controls are simple but weirdly tense: tap the button to cast, then carefully reel in without snapping the line when a fish finally bites.
What’s cool is how different spots actually feel distinct—some lakes are packed with aggressive smallmouth bass, others have these sluggish lunkers that take forever to bite. And yeah, the graphics are pure 16-bit nostalgia, but there’s something about the way the water ripples when you hook something massive that still holds up. Just don’t expect to win tournaments right away; figuring out which lures work where takes some trial and error (and a lot of patience).
It’s the kind of game you play with the volume low at 2 AM, half-asleep but determined to land just one more fish before quitting. If you’ve got a soft spot for old-school sports sims, this one’s a surprisingly deep time capsule.
