About Syvalion
Syvalion came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by Taito. It was one of those games that felt a bit different from the usual platformers and RPGs that dominated the system. You controlled a long, serpentine dragon flying through a series of side scrolling stages.
Your main goal is to navigate the dragon through narrow, cavernous passages while destroying enemy crafts and structures. The dragon's body is made of segmented cars, and if an enemy hits any segment besides the head, that part of your body is destroyed. You collect power ups to extend your body and upgrade your firepower, but the screen constantly scrolls forward, forcing you to keep moving. The pacing is relentless, and the narrow corridors make maneuvering your long dragon a constant challenge. It feels like a tense, high stakes balancing act between aggression and self preservation.
