Syndicate is a real-time tactics game released in 1993 for MS-DOS. Developed by Bullfrog Productions and published by Electronic Arts, it is set in a cyberpunk future where powerful global corporations, known as syndicates, vie for dominance. The player assumes the role of an executive directing covert operations from a bird's-eye view perspective.

The player controls a team of four cybernetically enhanced agents, directing their movements and actions in real time across various urban environments. Primary objectives involve missions such as infiltrating secure locations, assassinating key targets, or seizing control of territory from rival syndicates. Progression is achieved by successfully completing these assignments, which in turn generates funds used to manage the player's own syndicate. These funds can be allocated to recruit new agents, research advanced weaponry and cybernetic implants, or upgrade the capabilities of existing team members.

Gameplay systems focus on tactical squad command and resource management. Players directly issue orders to their agents, who engage in combat with enemy forces and security systems encountered during missions. Equipment and augmentations, which can be researched or salvaged from defeated opponents, significantly alter an agent's effectiveness. The strategic layer involves allocating financial resources between immediate mission needs and long-term research projects to gain technological advantages over competing corporations.
